On Wednesday, Vice President Faisal Naseem met with H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, the Crown Prince of the Emirate of Fujairah during his ongoing official visit to Dubai. The official visit was undertaken to attend the World Government Summit 2023 held in Madinat Jumeirah. At the meeting with the Crown Price, the Vice President commended the leadership of UAE for its foresight in successfully hosting the summit for a decade now and noted that it has helped shape the world’s future.
Reflecting on the existing bilateral relations between the Maldives and UAE, Vice President Faisal Naseem remarked that the close bonds shared between the two nations are rooted in Islamic, cultural and historical links and values. In this regard, the Vice President recognized UAE as an instrumental developmental partner for the Maldives and expressed his gratitude for the generous support and assistance provided to the Maldives over the years.
H.H. Sheikh Hamad and Vice President Faisal Naseem also spoke on areas of mutual interest to enhance cooperation in the future. Avenues of collaboration in development, trade and investment and tourism were explored as well as increasing people-to-people connectivity and international cooperation. Before concluding the meeting, the Vice President expressed confidence that the Maldives and UAE’s close partnership would continue to prosper and flourish in the coming years for the mutual benefit of their citizens.
This year also marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
