Ambassador of Maldives to Belgium Presents His Credentials

On Thursday, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Maldives to the European Union, His Excellency Omar Abdul Razzak presented his letter of Credence to the President of the European Commission, Her Excellency Ursula Von der Leyen. The credentials presenting ceremony took place at the Headquarters of the European Commission in Brussels during the afternoon hours of 26^th January 2023.

Following the ceremony, the Ambassador and the President held a meeting. During the meeting, Ambassador Omar conveyed his greetings and best wishes from the President of the Maldives and spoke about the close bonds between the Maldives and the European Union. He then reaffirmed his commitment to continue working towards maintaining excellent bilateral relations and cooperation with the EU.

In her remarks, President of the European Commission, Ursula Von Der Leyen congratulated Ambassador Umar on his appointment. Moreover, she acknowledged the positive and growing momentum in the Maldives-EU relations at the meeting.
