Ministry of Health Signs Two Key Agreements With HOMT Espania

Last week, the Ministry of Health signed two significant agreements with the Spanish Company, HOMT Espania. As per this agreement, HOMT Espania will construct a 130-bed capacity tertiary hospital on L. Gan island and a 30-bed capacity hospital in Gdh. Gadhoo island. The projects are facilitated under the government’s aim to further strengthen healthcare services in the Maldives and make healthcare accessible across the country.

During the signing ceremony held at the Ministry of Health, the contract agreements were signed between the Minister of State of the Ministry of Health, Ahmed Adil and the Chief Executive Director of HOMT Espania, Eduardo Oliveiria.

Once the physical structures are completed, the company will also be building a staff accommodation block, procuring furniture and medical equipment for the hospitals as well as training medical staff for the job. The total cost of both projects amounts to € 79,050,022.60.

Under this agreement, the construction works of the hospitals are contracted to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC). MTCC is set to finish construction works of the L.Gan Tertiary Hospital in 36 months whereas the Gdh. Gadhoo workds are to be finished in 30 months. The whole project is financed by the Deutsche Bank.
