MTCC Hands Over Finished OPD Building of Hdh. Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital

Maldives Transport & Contracting Company (MTCC) has handed over the finished OPD building of Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital in Haa Dhaalu atoll. The project was awarded to MTCC by the Health Ministry of the Maldives for a value of MVR 20.2 million, to further elevate healthcare services in the Boduthiladhunmathi region.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MTCC, Adam Azim handed over the OPD building to the CEO of Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital, Ahmed Dawood. The new building complete with state-of-the-art facilities and modern interiors is set to bring a transformative change to the healthcare system in the North.

At the moment, the Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital is the only tertiary-level hospital in the province and an important healthcare point for residents of the Northern atolls including Haa Alifu, Haa Dhaalu and Shaviyani. Due to the extensive array of services available at the hospital, many patients rely on the Regional hospital to fulfil their healthcare requirements. As such, the number of people seeking services from the hospital has drastically increased over the years, proving the need to further expand the services and space.

As part of the project, MTCC undertook the construction of the OPD, home to a plethora of facilities. The building constitutes 21 consultation rooms, a treatment room, a procedure room and a nursing station. Moreover, MTCC also established a voluminous waiting lounge that spans 6,189 square feet. Additionally, a 32-display queue system and CCTV camera system were included in the scope of the project.
