HDC Prepares To Introduce Smart Solutions To Thoddoo Island

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has signed an agreement to introduce smart solutions to Thoddoo Island in Alifu Alifu atoll. With this agreement, HDC will be expanding its expertise in building smart cities further, by establishing an Open Access Network in Thoddoo.

With this network, services of Smart Farming, Smart Surveillance and Smart Bench will be available on the island, bringing next-generation island-wide connectivity to the residents. This initiative supports HDC’s aim to create inclusive, connected communities across the country.

A similar smart city solution has already been installed in Hulhumale’ which includes an Open Access Network, Smart Pole and Smart Bench. This aligns with the corporation’s ambitious goal to build a digitally thriving Smart City in Hulhumale’- the first-ever in the Maldives. For this purpose, HDC also inaugurated its smart city brand Smartcom in 2021.

Through this platform, HDC has continued to invest in digital infrastructure, choosing new technologies and cutting-edge solutions to create an inclusive, clean and safe living environment for all residents of Hulhumale.
