The Indian High Commissioner Pays A Courtesy Visit To The Vice President

On Tuesday, the High Commissioner of the Republic of India to the Republic of Maldives, His Excellency Munu Mahawar paid a courtesy call on the Vice President of Maldives, His Excellency Faisal Naseem. The meeting took place at the President’s Office during the hours of yesterday.

At the meeting, the Vice President and the High Commissioner spoke about various topics including strengthening the existing friendly relations between the Maldives and India. Speaking with the High Commissioner, Vice President Faisal Naseem expressed gratitude to the Indian government for their continued support to the Maldives through High Impact Community Development Projects.

Several discussions took place between the High Commissioner and the Vice President. This included the potential of facilitating drug detox and rehabilitation centres in the Maldives and the prospect of arranging periodic visits from doctors and psychiatrists from India. Moreover, the development of human resources in the healthcare sector of the Maldives was spotlighted and the possibility of training and vocational training opportunities for Maldivians were discussed. Likewise, the High Commissioner and Vice President also explored avenues for developing the sports sector in the Maldives.

In addition to this, the Vice President and the High Commissioner spoke on ways Indian start-up incubators could provide support in building capacity and facilitating training opportunities for private-sector businesses in the Maldives. The High Commissioner also expressed interest in providing medical and pharmaceutical equipment to the Maldives and reaffirmed India’s commitment and assistance to the Maldives.

 The meeting concluded with both the Vice President and the High Commissioner expressing eagerness to seek continued relations and cooperation in the future.
