The Republic of Maldives and the Kingdom of Cambodia Exchanges Key Agreements

On Monday, The Republic of Maldives and the Kingdom of Cambodia exchanged six key agreements, paving way for a pivotal point of progress in bilateral relations between the two countries. The agreement exchange ceremony was held as part of the state visit of the Cambodian Prime Minister to the Maldives. His Excellency, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the Prime Minister of Cambodia, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen presided over the ceremony.

The notable agreements exchanged on Monday are:
1. The Agreement on Visa Exemption for Holders of Diplomatic, Official and Ordinary Passports: With this agreement, it will ease existing travel restrictions for the aforementioned passport holders of both countries and strengthen socio-economic relationships.

2. Memorandum of Understanding on Bilateral Consultations: The agreement will facilitate discussions to build relationships between the Maldives and Cambodia in various fields.
 
3. Agreement on Economic Cooperation: The agreement will seek to strengthen, promote and develop economic cooperation between both countries in mutually beneficial and equitable interests.

4. Memorandum of Understanding on Health Cooperation: The agreement will provide assistance to the Maldives to obtain support to enhance healthcare facilities, train healthcare professionals and conduct prevention and advocacy programmes.
 
5. Memorandum of Understanding on Tourism Cooperation: The agreement will help advertise tourism, provide training opportunities and further widen investment as well as pave way for travel between the Maldives and Cambodia.

6. Memorandum of Understanding between the Maldives National Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce: The agreement will open possibilities for building trade relations, increasing trade, expanding investments and further improving industrial, business and economic cooperation between the Maldives and Cambodia.
