The Maldivian Government Officially Welcomes The Cambodian Prime Minister To The Maldives

On Monday, the government of the Maldives officially welcomed the Cambodian Prime Minister to the country with a special welcome ceremony held at Republic Square. The visiting Prime Minister of Cambodia, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen arrived in the Maldives on Sunday morning, honouring the invitation extended by His Excellency, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

At today’s welcome ceremony, the Cambodian Prime Minister was received at the Izzuddin Jetty in Male’ by the President himself and was escorted to the saluting dais. The Prime Minister was then offered a seven-gun salute by the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) followed by the performance of the national anthems of both countries by the MNDF brass band.

Afterwards, Samdech Techo Prime Minister Hun Sen then inspected a Guard of Honour which was proceeded by the presentation of the senior members of the government of the Maldives and the visiting delegation. Following this, the Cambodian Prime Minister was escorted to the President’s Office by a cultural procession, where he signed the visitor’s book.

At the President’s Office, the President and the Prime Minister will meet each other and hold official talks to strengthen existing ties and develop partnerships between the two countries. The two leaders will then preside over an agreement exchange ceremony and host a joint press conference to speak on the outcomes of the talk.

This is the first time a Cambodian Prime Minister had visited the Maldives on a state visit since Maldives and Cambodia established diplomatic relations on September 21, 1995.
