The National Awards Committee Brings Revisions To Its Policy

The National Awards Committee of the Maldives has announced that it has brought some revisions to the policy governing the presentation of the Nation Awards. They also noted that with the revised policy, the nominations will be open on 15th January 2023.

Under the revised policy, citizens aged 60 and above can now submit nominations to the National Awards of Recognition which was inhibited in the past. Moreover, the National Award of Honour will be accepting nominations from companies, non-governmental organizations and associations in the Maldives with a service history surpassing 35 years. Apart from these revisions, two new categories were also introduced to this year’s edition of the National Awards namely, culinary arts and engineering fields.

The National Award of Honour is conferred to individuals who received the National Award of Recognition 10 years ago and who have remained in active service for over 35 years. However, individual nominees for the National Award of Recognition must have a minimum of 7 years of active service, while companies, organizations and associations must have completed 10 years of service to be eligible for the awards.

The National Awards are conferred to individuals on the official reception held to observe the Independence Day of the Maldives. Independence Day falls on the 26th of July of every calendar year.
