President Solih Delivers Message On The Occasion Of The New Year- 2023

In his message to the public on the New Year, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih called on the Maldivian people to embrace the new year with resolutions that align with promoting peace, harmony and unity. Speaking in the message, the President stressed the importance of preventing division, discord and strife and any such acts that could jeopardize the peace and security prevalent in the society.

In his address, the President reflected on the previous year and stated that the most noteworthy achievement of 2022 was ensuring peace and stability in the nation. In this regard, President Solih recollected the significant progress made by his administration in securing human rights, social harmony and justice in the country. He also noted that it has ensured the equitable development and delivery of necessary services from which many citizens are now availing the beneficial rewards.

In addition to this, the President also brought to attention the post-Covid economic recovery efforts of the administration. Speaking on this, the President urged the public and private sectors to adhere to the administration’s efforts to achieve more substantial economic growth during this year. He also remarked on the pertinent need to seek new avenues in order to optimize the tourism and fishing industries- the two pillars of the Maldivian economy. On this note, President Solih also underscored the role of youth in promoting gender equality and bringing national-level progress to the nation.

As 2023 is a big year in the political scene of the Maldives, highlighting that, the President said that it is high time to put forward the democratic values and principles of the Maldives. He also stated that the best example political leaders and other key players can depict to future generations is to set forth endeavours in the nation’s best interests. Concluding his speech, the President asked all public and political parties to safeguard the peace and harmony of the country seen today.
