Ministry of Health Signs Agreement For The Development of Magoodhoo Health Care Extension Building

On Tuesday, Ministry of Health has contracted a third party for the development of the Magoodhoo Health Care extension building in Faafu Atoll. The contract agreement was signed between the Ministry of Health and Optimal Investment Maldives Private Limited at a special ceremony held last Tuesday.

The contract was awarded to Optimal Investment for a bid of MVR 3,881,472.76. and is set to be completed within 145 days (approximately 5 months). Once completed, the extension building will assist in expanding the healthcare services provided at the F. Magoodhoo Health Centre as well as increase capacities for storage of medical consumables.

With this expansion, the health centre can be operated on a 24-hour basis, when compared to the current routine of 16 hours a day. The present centre is equipped to provide laboratory services and serves on average 10 patients a day. However, due to increasing scope of guesthouses and broadening student population in the island, the numbers are climbing therefore, increasing demand for a contemporary facility with greater capacity.
