Ooredoo Fun Run Successfully Concludes With Over 5000 Runners Reaching the Finish Line

The Ooredoo Fun Run took place last Friday, 23rd December 2022 and saw climbing numbers of 5000 runners joining in the fun activities. The first-of-its-kind in the Maldives, the Ooredoo Fun Run is the upgraded version of the Ooredoo Colour Run with even more joy added to the older debut. Each kilometre completed was marked in style with different kinds of fun moments such as colour, water, and obstacles as well as an end-of-the-run foam party.

The run was inaugurated with a selfie taken by the Vice President of the Maldives, His Excellency Faisal Naseem with all the assembled fun runners. He was joined on stage by the Minister of Environment, Climate Change & Technology, Aminath Shauna and the CEO & MD of Ooredoo Maldives, Khalid Al-Hamadi together with the Chief Commercial Officer of Ooredoo Maldives, Hussain Niyaz.

Speaking on the annual fun run, CEO & MD of Ooredoo Maldives, Khalid Al-Hamadi remarked “Ooredoo Fun Run was a perfect ending to the year 2022. This annual fun run is hosted to end the year and engage our communities with some fun and exciting activities. This year’s run is the first physical run held by Ooredoo Maldives post-pandemic and we couldn’t be happier with the participation, excitement, and energy we received from the participants. It was absolutely wonderful to see people of all ages enjoying themselves with their loved ones.”

With the objective of promoting running as a healthy and active lifestyle choice, the Ooredoo Fun Run will be held annually and is designed as an untimed and fun-filled 5K event. The unrestricted nature of the run allows both new and experienced runners to join in the fun where every milestone kilometer is commemorated with a fun station constituting of colours, obstacles, a water fountain and lastly a foam party. As the runners dutifully carried out their tasks, social media was stormed with exciting photos of runners sharing their moments, medals, and celebrations after crossing the finish line.

The second edition of the Ooredoo Fun Run will take place next year with plans underway to expand the run to three other regions of the country, allowing more people to participate in the fun and exhilarating event.
