Dhiraagu X IFC To Strengthen Women’s Corporate Leadership

Dhiraagu has announced a partnership with the International Financial Corporation (IFC) to launch the company’s Gender Advisory Programme, which will add to the noteworthy work Dhiraagu has been doing in promoting gender equality. Under this partnership, IFC will be collaborating with Dhiraagu to solidify the company’s gender action plan and facilitate business opportunities for women by adopting a resilient gender lens throughout its operations.

The partnership greatly aligns with Dhiraagu’s initiatives founded under the Gender Action Plan launched earlier this year. Through this, Dhiraagu focuses on supporting the advancement of women in the company, both as employees and as leaders fulfilling technical and non-technical roles. As such, the corporation will assist Dhiraagu in achieving its gender commitments.

Speaking on the partnership, CEO & MD of Dhiraagu, Ismail Rasheed stated “I thank IFC for providing their expertise to work with us in accelerating our gender action plan, and helping us progress towards gender parity, to ensure Dhiraagu remains as a business that is more resilient, agile, and inclusive. We view this engagement as an incredible opportunity to tap into IFC’s expertise and strengthen our new Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) function”.

IFC employs a comprehensive approach to reducing gender inequality by working closely with the private sector to encourage the recruitment of women and improve their working conditions together with other similar endeavours.

Alejandro Alvarez de la Campa, IFC Country Manager for Sri Lanka and Maldives said”
We know that ensuring women have an equal place in business operations can increase companies’ overall performance and economic gains. By taking this step, Dhiraagu is setting an important example for other companies on creating diverse and inclusive workplaces in the Maldives”.

Within the company, Dhiraagu supports a culture of zero tolerance for gender discrimination and promotes equal opportunities.
