Dhiraagu X Hope for Women Conducts Gender Advocacy Training Workshop

Dhiraagu has partnered with Hope for Women and conducted a dedicated Gender Advocacy Training Workshop. Forming part of the #16DaysofActivism, the workshop is targeted at representatives from Civil Society Organizations, SOEs and individuals that work towards advancing gender action.

The purpose of the workshop is to bring into focus the various issues surrounding the different types of violence against women and to promote collaborations that aim to unpack the many types of gender-based violence seen in society. Moreover, participants were informed on gender concepts, gender mainstreaming, legislations currently in implementation and the effective methods of advocacy. Through this, the facilitators aim to better communicate the drivers and existing challenges in building awareness and to carry it forward on a national level.

Speaking at the workshop, Chairperson of Hope for Women Ahmed Anwar stated “We thank Dhiraagu for partnering with us to conduct this Gender Advocacy Training session. Especially in light of the #16DaysOfActivism campaign to end violence against women, we believe that it is crucial for employees of offices and institutions, as well as the public to be more aware of gender-based issues in our society and advocate to solve them”.

Manager Corporate Social Responsibility at Dhiraagu, Bishaara Hameed remarked “We are delighted to have partnered with Hope for Women to support the Gender Advocacy workshop as part of the #16DaysOfActivism. We are glad to see representatives from various backgrounds join us with the common objective to focus on gender action”.

Incorporated in 2010, Hope for Women advocates to end all forms of violence against women, promote gender equality and women’s participation in public life. The workshop was facilitated by the Hope Institute of Research and Training which targets critical issues related to Gender and Human Rights and focuses on creating more opportunities for the public particularly for women to enhance their education and skills.
