The President Departs To Gdh. Faresmaathodaa For Fishermen’s Day Commemorations

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has departed today to the island of Faresmaathodhaa in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll to formally attend the celebrations of the 42nd National Fishermen’s Day. During his visit, the President would be gracing the special reception held to mark the day tonight. The National Fishermen’s Day is commemorated in the Maldives on 10th December of every calendar year.

A dedicated Fisheries Expo is set to take place on Faresmaathodaa island as part of the festivities for the day. President Solih will be touring the stands and visiting the participants at the Fisheries Expo. Moreover, an exciting fish-filleting contest is planned in the celebrations by the Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture, to which the President would also be attending as part of the visit.

In addition to this, President Solih will be meeting with the fishermen’s community and inquiring after their profession and addressing their concerns. Likewise, he would be hosting a meeting with the Island Council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) of Faresmaathodaa Island. During the meeting with the members, the President will share various development plans of the Government of Maldives relating to the island and ask about their pertinent needs and issues.

The President is scheduled to conclude his visit to Faresmaathodaa on December 12th, 2022, and return back to Male’ City on Monday.
