MTCC Updates On Progress of R.Kinolhas Harbour Development Project

On Monday, Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) provided updates on the status of the Harbour Development Project on Kinolhas Island in Raa Atoll. The company stated that 71% of the project is completed at the site with quay wall block installation works recently finished. Moreover, the third shipment of the boulders necessary for the project has also been delivered to the project site.

The R, Kinolhas Harbour Development Project includes many mandatory alterations and changes to the current harbour. The works featured in the project include dredging and excavation operations of the harbour, the construction of a 162m groyne and a 285m breakwater, a 65m revetment and the establishment of a 186m quay wall and ramp.
Furthermore, harbour pavement will be laid on a 1663.36 sqm area with navigational aids and harbour lights installed as part of the project as well. The project is valued at MVR 45.1 Million.

MTCC has been actively undertaking harbour development projects all across the country, in an effort to provide an efficient transport system in the Maldives and bring equitable development to all the islands of the Maldives. A contemporary harbour equipped with modern facilities is also necessary to implement the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) high-speed ferry service which aims to connect all parts of the country through effective and affordable means.
