Bank of Maldives Marks International Day of Persons with Disability

Bank of Maldives (BML) has partnered with Maldives Deaf Association (MDA) to commemorate this year’s International Day of Persons with Disability. Under this partnership, a dedicated children’s evening was held on Guraidhoo Island in Kaafu Atoll. The event was joined by more than 200 individuals from the Home for People with Special Needs located on the island, who engaged in the celebratory activities as well.

The event was organized by MDA with the main objective of providing inclusive opportunities for the deaf community and society as a whole to come together and participate in fun activities. In addition to this, BML also distributed gift packs to all the SEN students in Imaduddin School as a special way to mark the occasion.

International Day of Persons with Disability is marked on the 3rd of December every year. This year’s theme for the day is ‘Transformative solutions for inclusive development: The role of innovation in fueling an accessible and equitable world.” The day is celebrated to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities at every level of society and development and to raise awareness of the situation of PWDs on all fronts; political, social, economic and cultural.
