Housing Development Corporation Concludes First Annual Smart-Com Fair

Housing Development Corporation has concluded the first-ever Smart-Com fair facilitated under its Smart-Com brand. The Smart-Com fair provided a platform for digital service providers to showcase their products and share digital information with the public. The fair was held on Friday, 2nd December 2022 at Central Park, Hulhumale’.

A special designated lucky-draw was held for visitors with exclusive gifts presented to winners. The prizes featured in the lucky draw include a Smart Watch, a 300GB Air-Fibre Router and MVR 1000 gift voucher. The fair was graced by a many high-profile brands in the Maldives such Bank of Maldives, Maldives Inland Revenue Authority, Dhiraagu, Ooredoo, Pension Office, Aasandha, Medianet and R.O.L among other participants. In addition to this, various popular apps in the country like Fahipay, Faseyha Recharge and Jobsicle also took part in the fire and marketed their mobile applications.

Participants of the fair set up stalls during the event and informed the general public about their products and services as well as the smart-city solutions provided by the companies. In addition to this, issues related to cybercrime and fraudulent scams were underscored, educating visitors about cyber safety and creating awareness.

The SmartCom Digital Inclusivity fair was designed to improve the digital literacy of the Maldivian community and build smart citizens for a smart city. This greatly aligns with HDC’s vision to become a smart city with the corporation undertaking many digital infrastructure initiatives at the moment. As such, the event served the greater objective of assisting residential communities to better familiarize themselves with multiple digital platforms and help them pursue more convenient options during their everyday life.
