Alia Constructions Hands Over Finished Extension Building of R. Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital

Alila Constructions has completed the construction of the extension building of R. Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital and handed over the building to the Ministry of Health. In an effort to upgrade the R. Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital to a tertiary standard hospital, Alia Constructions were contracted to build an extension building on 27th January 2021. The foundation-laying ceremony took place on 8th March 2021 with the Minister of Health, Ahmed Naseem laying down the first concrete block.

The project is valued at MVR 80 Million and includes the establishment of many necessary facilities. The ground floor of the extension building features a 10-bed Emergency Unit with 4 High-Dependency beds and 4 Low-Dependency beds. Moreover, a dedicated Radiology department is also located on the ground floor home to a wide range of hospital rooms such as 2 Ultra-sound scan rooms, 2 X-ray rooms, a Mammography room, a CT Scan room and an MRI room.

The first floor of the building will constitute a theatre complex and a laboratory. The theatre complex is equipped with 2 theatres, one designated for Orthopedic surgery and the other for multi-purpose operations and surgeries. The additional laboratory will help to expand the services offered at the lab, bringing great ease to patients utilizing the lab facilities.

Furthermore, the second story of the building will comprise a Physiotherapy department and a 10-room private ward. The current Physiotherapy services will be relocated to the new department, allowing the services to diversify as well. The private ward featuring 10 rooms will increase the capacity of the hospital by bringing the total amount of private rooms to 16.

In addition to this, Alia Constructions also carried out the solar paneling of the terrace with 310 Kilowatts of power-generating solar panels installed on the rooftops. This would in turn lead to clean energy generation, mitigating the negative impact on the environment.
