The Newly Appointed High Commissioner of Maldives To India Presents Credentials to the President of India

On Monday, the newly appointed High Commissioner of the Republic of Maldives to the Republic of India, His Excellency Ibrahim Shaheeb presented his Letter of Credence to the President of the Republic of India, Her Excellency, Droupadi Murmu. The ceremony took place at Rashtrapati Bhavan during the hours of yesterday.

Following the ceremony, the High Commissioner paid a courtesy call on the President and conveyed his warm greetings from the President, Government and people of the Maldives to the President and her people. During the meeting, the High Commissioner expressed gratitude to the Government of India for facilitating the socio-economic development of the Maldives throughout the years.

Moreover, the High Commissioner reaffirmed his commitment to work closely with the Indian Government and its people to take the friendly relations between the countries to new heights during his tenure. In this regard, the High Commissioner spoke on enhancing collaboration and cooperation in areas of mutual interest such as trade and investment.

At the meeting, President Murmu extended her congratulations to the High Commissioner on his appointment. She then expressed hope of working in close association with the Government of Maldives on areas of mutual interest and further strengthen bilateral relationships between India and Maldives.

The ceremony was witnessed by the Spouse of the High Commissioner, Madam Mariyam Ilham Niyaz. The Defence Advisor of Maldives in India, Colonel Mohamed Ibrahim, First Secretary, Mr. Ahmed Suzil, First Secretary, Ms. Maryam Bassam Farooq, and Second Secretary, Mr. Nuaz Afeef from the High Commission of Maldives in India also graced the ceremony. The president appointed the High Commissioner on 10th October 2022.
