The Maldives And The United States Sign The Ninth Amendment To The DOAG

On Monday, the ninth amendment to the Development Objective Grant Agreement (DOAG) has been signed between the Government of Maldives and the Government of the United States of America (USA). At a signing ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the amendment was signed on behalf of the Republic of Maldives by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Khaleel. The USAID Mission Director, Gabriel Grau represented the Government of USA during the signing ceremony.

The DOAG is a landmark development cooperation agreement realized between the Maldives and the United States on 12th March, 2019. As of now, eight amendments have been brought to the agreement, totaling a contribution of USD 25.94 million from the United States. With the conclusion of the ninth amendment, the United States Government commits an additional USD 3 million to the Maldives in an effort to improve the technical capacity of the country to better manage public finances and increase resilience to economic and democratic governance.

The ninth amendment signing ceremony was witnessed by a number of high-level dignitaries from both sides. This includes senior government officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from the Maldives side and the USAID Deputy Assistant Administrator for the Bureau of Asia as well as officials from the USAID Mission to the Maldives.
