Planning Ministry Signs With Muni Enterprises To Develop Six Domestic Airports

Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has signed an agreement with Muni Enterprises Private Limited to develop six domestic airports in the Maldives. Muni Enterprises was awarded the contract after submitting the winning proposal following the Ministry’s announcement to submit proposals to develop or finance the development of six domestic airports.

At the signing ceremony held on Thursday, the agreement was signed on behalf of the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure by Director General, Shaana Farooq. The Managing Director of Muni Enterprises, Mukhuthar Hassan signed on behalf of the company. The airports that will be developed under this agreement are Makunudhoo Airport in Haa Dhaalu Atoll, Bilehfahi Airport in Shaviyani Atoll, Alifushi Airport in Raa Atoll, Thulhadhoo Airport in Baa Atoll, Magoodhoo Airport in Faafu Atoll and Vilufushi Airport in Thaa Atoll.

Submitted proposals were accepted under the procedures governing leasing land for resort development on a cross-subsidy basis. The development of the airports is set to cost a total of USD 133 million for the Government of Maldives.
