Dhiraagu Holds the Graduation Ceremony of the Apprenticeship Program

On Wednesday, Dhiraagu held the graduation ceremony of the company’s dedicated apprenticeship program. A total of 15 apprentices graduated this year and were awarded certificates to mark the completion of the program. The Vice President of the Maldives, His Excellency Faisal Naseem graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest together with the Minister of Education, Dr. Aishath Ali, Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Ibrahim Hassan and the Special Advisor on Social Policy of the President’s Office, Dr. Musthafa Luthfy.

The Dhiraagu Apprenticeship Programme is the first-ever corporate apprenticeship program to be incepted in the Maldives and closely aligns with the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of the company. The themes reflected in the program adhere to the key focus of CSR which includes inspiring and motivating youth and instilling employability skills in them. As such, Dhiraagu has been actively enrolling and training youngsters in the program and has seen an impressive number of 247 people graduating since it was founded in 2009. The alumni have successfully paved way for careers in Dhiraagu and other notable organizations in the Maldives.

The 13th batch of the Apprenticeship program featured 15 apprentices who were trained in a comprehensive range of disciplines such as soft skill development. The training was complemented by work experience in major business areas of Dhiraagu, allowing apprentices to navigate a successful career path in the company. Upon completion of the program, apprentices can work in Male’ and in the numerous Dhiraagu Regional Operations Centers located across the country.

The Chief Guest of the ceremony, Vice President Faisal Naseem congratulated the graduates on their achievements and expressed his gratitude to Dhiraagu for initiating the Apprenticeship program. He added that Dhiraagu has set an example for other corporates and inspired them to follow suit, resulting in a more skilled workforce in the Maldives. In this regard, the Vice President underscored the need to develop talents that are quintessential for the nation’s resilience and progress.

Speaking in the ceremony, CEO & MD of Dhiraagu, Ismail Rasheed also extended his felicitations to the apprentices and wished them success in their future endeavors. He also noted that many alumni of the program are now leading successful careers in Dhiraagu and across the country, bearing testimony to its vital role in career development and success. Moreover, the CEO also emphasized the fact that Dhiraagu takes a special interest and prioritizes developing young people.
