HDC Signs Key Agreements To Establish Five Schools in Hulhumale Phase 2

Today, Housing Development Corporation (HDC) signed key agreements with parties to establish 5 new schools in Hulhumale Phase 2. At a signing ceremony held at Meeruma this morning, agreements were signed to develop 4 public schools and 1 international school in the newly urbanized area. The objective of the project is to facilitate a higher level of education for residents settling in the new neighbourhood.

For the establishment of the four public schools, the Managing Director of HDC, Ahmed Athif signed on behalf of the corporation while Senior Policy Director of Ministry of Education, Moosa Naeem signed on behalf of the ministry.

Under the agreement, four government schools will be constructed near the vicinity of the current populations residing in the area. As of such, the schools will be featured in a centric zone, providing easy access for the communities in Phase 2. As of now four land plots have been committed to the project. This includes the N5-21 plot, LZ-9 plot, N4-20 plot and N5-33 plot.

The development of the international school was contracted to Islanders Education. During the signing ceremony, Chairman of Islanders Education, Abdul Rasheed signed on behalf of the company while Managing Director of HDC, Ahmed Athif signed from the corporation.
As per this agreement, the first British International School in the Maldives will be constructed in Hulhumale’ phase 2. The school will be accredited by the Council of British International Schools and will be operated to an international standard. The land plot, LZ-7 has been committed to build the school.

The Hulhumale Phase 2 masterplan comprises of all essential economic and social facilities necessary for a settling population in the area. Therefore, the signing of these agreements will cater to educational opportunities in the area, bringing great ease to residents and future settlers alike.
