MTCC Shares Updates On R. Alifushi Land Reclamation & Airport Development Project

 Today, Maldives Transport & Contracting Company (MTCC) shared some updates regarding the Land Reclamation and Airport Development Project in Alifushi in Raa Atoll. The company stated that they have commenced concrete works on the Fire building featured in the project.

Boasting a huge project value of MVR 451.6 Million, the scope of the project extends to many required areas and the establishment of multiple airport facilities. This includes the initial land reclamation operations of a 50.5 hectares area and the construction of a 2871m revetment and 480m groyne as well as a security fence spanning 655m.

In addition to this, the project will also see the establishment of airport facilities like a runway, apron, taxiway and service roads, and a designated passenger terminal. Furthermore, for safety purposes, a fire building and firefighting equipment will also be installed at the developing airport.

Currently, shuttering and bar-bending works of the fire pond are ongoing at the island. The development of the airport will bring many ease to the residents of Raa Atoll by facilitating more convenient transportation and is projected to bring economic prosperity to the islands and atoll as well.
