HDC To Host First Digital Inclusivity Event In Hulhumale’

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) is gearing up to host the first digital inclusivity event in Hulhumale’ under its smart city brand, SmartCom. Currently, SmartCom is seeking partners for the event by reining in all local mobile service brands. The event will serve as a great platform for service providers to showcase their applications and their many uses, helping them increase public reach through the event.

The SmartCom Digital Inclusivity Event is designed to improve the digital literacy of the Maldivian community and build smart citizens for a smart city. Moreover, the event will also focus on creating awareness on cyber scams and fraud, a crime that is becoming increasingly prevalent in society. Furthermore, the event will see the hosting of panel discussions, where invaluable insights on the benefits of smart city solutions and digital safety areas will be shared with the attendees.

To commemorate the one-year anniversary of the inception of HDC’s Open Access Network (OAN) and SmartCom, the corporation has been initiating a number of community-based activities. As part of the anniversary festivities, the Digital Inclusivity Event is set to take place on 19th November 2022 at Hulhumale’.

The event will bring many stakeholders under one roof, including SOE’s, various government institutions and private companies-all jointly in league to enhance the digital literacy of the public. HDC states that the main aim of the event is to assist residential communities to familiarize themselves with multiple digital platforms and help the pursue more convenient options during their everyday life.
