Dhiraagu Features As Digital Partner For Vaavoshi Turtle Festival

Dhiraagu became the Digital Partner for Vaavoshi Turtle Festival 2022 which took place yesterday, 29th October 2022. Organized by the Olive Ridley Project, the festival was the first of its kind to be held in several atolls at the same time. This included N. Lhohi, R. Fainu, B. Goidhoo, Lh. Hinnavaru, V. Keyodhoo, S. Feydhoo and in Kaafu atoll, Maafushi and Huraa.

The Vaavoshi Turtle Festival was held in joint collaboration with the local schools of these islands, driving student participation from all grades up to grade 12. Through this festival, the organizers aimed to celebrate the turtle population in the Maldives and bring to attention the many threats and dangers faced by sea turtles and other marine life in the country. Consequently, creating awareness among the younger generations about marine conservation.

Some of the activities conducted during the festival were beach clean-ups, ‘Conservation Conversations’ sessions carried out by environmental organizations, and Vaavoshi Festival Rally where students pledged to protect sea turtles. In addition to this, earlier in the month, a poster designing competition was hosted for students from all across the country.

As a centric focus of Dhiraagu’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, Dhiraagu remains committed to supporting endeavors that help to conserve the environment
