Local Favorite Coffee Shop – Meraki Coffee Roasters – Finally Gets Much Deserved Foreign Recognition!

Located in the tiny lands of Male’ City, Meraki Coffee Roasters is the first commercial coffee roaster in the Maldives., established in 2017. It is run by a fully Maldivian team of young and energetic coffee enthusiasts. They serve authentic, freshly roasted coffee from different parts of the world in addition to a scrumptious range of baked goodies and sweet treats to accompany your daily dose of coffee.

Recently, the coffee shop had made its way into the List of 50 Best Coffee Shops in Asia by Big 7 Travel. Big 7 Travel expertly provides current, curated recommendations one can trust. The lists are compiled based on audience surveys, reader suggestions, as well as the editorial team’s reviews.

According to Big 7 Travel, Meraki Coffee Roasters is “effortlessly cool”. The coffee shop placed 25^th on the list, and is one of the higher ranking coffee shops based in the South Asian region. Following this win, it has been reported that Meraki Coffee Roasters have intentions of expansions. Thus, perhaps sometime in the future, there is a possibility of being placed number one on this list!

Simple Kaffa located at Taipei in Taiwan places first on the list. It is a creation of a former Taiwan and World Barista Champion and Big 7 Travel considers it world-class.

Fun Fact: The word ‘Meraki’ comes from Greek which is often used to describe embodiment of passion, soul, creativity and the essence of the art within a certain product or thing. (We clearly see this from Team Meraki, everyday!)
