STO Announces ‘Heyya Makita’ Competition 2022

State Trading Organization (STO) has announced the ‘Heyya Makita’ Competition 2022. The competition forms part of the ongoing Heyya Makita promotion and will be conducted for a period of one month starting from 25^th October to 25^th November 2022. The objective of the competition is to showcase the craftsmanship of Maldivian artisans. Hence, STO invites all interested candidates from all over the country to take part in this competition.

The art of craftsmanship has been incorporated into the lives and heritage of Maldivians since long ago. However, few opportunities exist for artisans to display their talents in the field and numbers are dwindling in the present times. Through this competition, STO hopes to instil a passion for local craftsmanship and increase the number of artisans in the field by providing equal opportunities to everyone. Therefore, artisans will be given the rare opportunity to compete under one roof with other skilled experts in the field.

Registrations are now open to participate in the competition. Interested candidates can obtain the form from Makita Showroom or download it via the STO website. Participants can submit the form directly to Makita Showroom counter, email it to marketers@sto.mv or viber it to +960 798-0240. The deadline for registration is 2200hrs on 23^rd October 2022.

During the competition, partakers will have to curate a piece of their own by using Makita power tools. A video has to be shot while the participant is working and Makita power tools must be featured in the video. The video and submitting piece both must align with the given guidelines published by STO. The due date to submit the video is 1600hrs of 25^th November 2022.

Once the video is submitted, STO will be uploading the videos to the Facebook page. A judging panel will account for 70% of the marks while 20% of the score is determined by Facebook likes. The rest of the 10% depends on the submitted video. The individual who submitted the winning piece will be presented with a MVR 50,000 Makita Tools Gift Voucher while the 2^nd winner receives a MVR 30,00 Makita Tools Gift Voucher. The third winner is given a MVR 15,00 gift voucher from STO People’s Choice Home and Kitchen Products.

STO reserves the right to use the videos for promotional purposes of Makita brand and the right to disqualify the video if proved that the piece was not made by the participant.
