The President Appoints High Commissioners To Two Countries

Yesterday, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih appointed high commissioners to two new countries namely India and Malaysia. Ibrahim Shaheeb will serve as the newly-appointed High Commissioner from the Republic of Maldives to the Republic of India while Ali Hussain Didi will step in as the High Commissioner of the Republic of Maldives to Malaysia. At a ceremony held in the President’s Office yesterday, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih presented the two new High Commissioners with their letters of appointment.

Ibrahim Shaheeb, the High Commissioner to the Republic of India holds a Master’s in Public Administration from Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, Singapore. In his previous posting, he took on the role of Chief of Protocol and Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ali Hussain Didi, the High Commissioner to Malaysia, holds a Post Graduate Diploma and MSc in Transport Management and Planning from Loughborough University of Technology, United Kingdom. Before stepping in as High Commissioner to Malaysia, Ali Hussain served as the High Commissioner to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. He was also previously appointed as the Maldivian Ambassador to the European Union and the Kingdom of Belgium.

In addition to this, Ali Hussain Didi has served as Controller of Immigration at Department of Immigration in the past and even taken up the responsibilities of President of Male’ Municipal Council and Chief Executive Officer of Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL).
