BML Assists In Establishing A Clean Water Drinking System In Bodufulhadhoo

Bank of Maldives (BML) announced that they have assisted to establish a clean water drinking system in the island of Bodufulhadhoo in Alifu Alifu atoll. The clean water drinking system was funded by the Community Fund of the bank and aimed to provide a safe source of water for students and staff at Bodufulhadhoo school.

Apart from facilitating a safe access to drinking water, the project will help to limit the usage of single-use plastic in the school community. A commercial Reverse Osmosis (RO) machine was installed at the school for this purpose, with the machine providing water to 2 dispensers located within the school.

The winning proposal for the project was submitted by Revolutionary Bodufulhadhoo Generation to the Community Fund. Speaking on the occasion, a representative of the NGO, Musthafa Ahmed said “Through this project the 186 students, staff and visiting guests to the Bodufulhadhoo school can get easy-access to safe drinking water. We hope that this project aids in changing the residents’ outlook on environmental awareness and they become more environmentally responsible citizens”.

As per the project, the Revolutionary Bodufulhadhoo Generation also donated re-usable water bottles to all the students and staff of the school, reaffirming their commitment to progress towards eco-friendly practices. Furthermore, to successfully conduct this project in a sustainable manner, the organization will also carry out routine checks and maintenance of the water plant, filter and dispensers located in the school.

The BML Community Fund is an initiative of the bank to empower individuals and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO)s to give back to their communities through establishment of sustainable projects.
