Yesterday evening, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed concluded their visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain and returned back to the country. The visit was paid at the courtesy of the invitation extended by the King of Bahrain, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. This is the first time a Head of State from the Maldives paid a State Visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
During the visit the President and First Lady met with many prominent figures and toured noteworthy institutions in Bahrain. This includes having an audience with the king last Thursday at Al-Qudaibiya Palace, where the President and the King exchanged bilateral dialogues. The President also met and held talks with other notable figures such as H.R.H Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The visit also saw the signing of four major agreements between the countries, with the President and King of Bahrain presiding over the signing ceremony. The President was accompanied on his visit by a delegation of cabinet ministers and senior government officials who engaged in different diplomatic discussions and talks as well.
As part of the visit, President Solih paid a visit to the Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB), where he met H.E. Sheikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Chairman of Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company. In addition to this, the President also held talks with the senior management of Bahrain Telecommunications Company (Batelco) on Friday.
During her visit, the First Lady met with several important members including H.R.H. Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, the wife of the King of Bahrain and the President and Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Women as well. She also toured the King Hamad University Hospital (KHUH) and the Bahrain Institute for Pearls and Gemstones (DANAT). Moreover, the first couple together visited the Bahrain National Museum and Beit Al-Quran Facility during their state visit.
