Bank Of Maldives Launches BML Hackathon As The 12th Monthly Initiative
On Thursday, Bank of Maldives (BML) announced the launching of BML Hackathon as the 12th high impact monthly community initiative of the bank. Since last year November onwards, the monthly community-based initiatives have been paving the way to BML’s 40th anniversary, commemorated this November.
Themed ‘Banking Solutions to Enhance Customer Experience’ the Hackathon will be picking the most talented and brightest tech intellects for its Innovation Lab. With 50 participants the 48-hour Hackathon will commence on 14th October 2022 at Hotel Jen, where partakers will be developing fintech ideas and solutions to better improve customer experience and operational excellence. Since the participation is restricted to 50 members, interested candidates are advised to register early on as participants will be chosen on a first come first serve basis.
Speaking about the Hackathon, BML’s In-charge and Acting MD, Aishath Noordeen said “We continue to see interest from developers and the fintech community to revolutionize the banking industry using modern technology. Through this Hackathon, we aim to support the brightest and most creative of the local tech community to tackle challenges and deliver banking solutions to provide our customers a better experience. We are looking forward to receiving innovative and sustainable technological solutions through this hackathon and supporting the winning teams in realizing their ideas at our new Innovation Lab”.
Following the Hackathon, three winning teams will be selected and given the chance to develop their winning ideas in the Bank’s Innovation Lab. With a duration of 6 months to perfect their ideas, BML will also be providing teams with a fully furnished private working space and a monthly allowance of MVR 20,000. In addition to this, a long-term maintenance contract of the developed solution will be signed between the parties.
