President Solih Concludes Official Visit To Bodu Thiladhunmathi

Yesterday, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih concluded his three-day official visit to four islands in Bodu Thilamundhathi in Haa Alifu and Haa Dhaalu. During the trip the President visited the islands of Naivaadhoo and Finey in Haa Dhaalu Atoll and paid a visit to Utheemu and Dhidhoo in Haa Alifu Atoll.

This year’s national day celebrations were hosted in Haa Utheemu where the President was joined by First Lady Fazna Ahmed, cabinet ministers, parliament members and various government and island officials to mark the occasion. At the official ceremony held to commemorate National Day, the President remarked that ensuring a ‘Jazeera’ lifestyle and convenient livelihoods for citizens is the best way to honour the country. The residents of Utheemu also held a traditional banquet for the First Couple during their visit.

Moreover, the official visit saw the launching of RTL ferry services in Zone 1. While speaking at the ceremony the President stated that restoring wealth and autonomy of islands begins with RTL service. He also highlighted the different large-scale infrastructure development projects underway in Bodu Thiladhunmathi and stated that through those projects, revolutionary progress will be brought to the province.

Apart from the launching of RTL services, the President also inaugurated several other infrastructural development projects in the region including establishment of water networks and sewerage systems as well as a powerhouse.

Before concluding his visit, President Solih held meetings with Island Councils and Women Development Committees (WDC) representatives. He also toured multiple government offices and public places on islands and enquired about the services and requirements. The President was accompanied by a delegation of cabinet ministers and senior government officials during his trip.
