Mamen Inter-School Cycling Championship Concludes With Champion Schools

On Wednesday, Dhiraagu hosted the closing ceremony of the Third Mamen Inter-School Cycling Championship. The cycling championship was held from the 16-17th of this month at the Hulhumale’ Phase 2 Cycling Track. Over 1000 participants from 32 different schools took part in this year’s edition, jointly conducted by Dhiraagu and Bike Maldives.

While speaking at the closing ceremony, Director Brand and Marketing Communications of Dhiraagu, Mohamed Mirshan Hassan remarked that he hopes that the competition instils in students an interest for cycling, not just as a sport but as a healthier and better way to care for the environment.

During the ceremony President of Bike Maldives, Zulaikha Hasan Didi said that she is delighted by the overwhelming support received from students, teachers and parents for the competition and hopes that a new group of competitive cyclists are created in the Maldives who can represent the country in international competitions. She further thanked Dhiraagu for their unwavering support in paving way for the development of cycling in Maldives.

State Minister of Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology, Dr. Abdulla Naseer attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest. From each competing category, three male and female winners were selected and three winning teams were chosen from each Mixed Team Pursuit. Moreover, Champion Schools from each age category was also announced at the ceremony.

The Champion Schools for each age category was:
·Under 13 (Male) – Iskandhar School
·Under 13 (Female) – Kalaafaanu School
·Under 15 (Male) – Billabong High International School
·Under 15 (Female) – Ghazee School
·Under 17 (Male) –Hiriya School
·Under 17 (Female) – Hiriya School
·Under 19 (Male) – Centre for Higher Secondary Education (CHSE)
