Maldivians Can Now Use Their Driving License In Malaysia

Starting from yesterday, Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation announced that Maldivians can now utilize their driving license in Malaysia as part of the Mutual Recognition Agreement signed between the two countries. As per the agreement, citizens of both countries can now use the driver’s license issued in their respective countries to drive in the other.

The Mutual Recognition Agreement was signed between the transport ministries of both government’s last month on the 12 of August. The agreement was signed on behalf of Maldives by Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Aishath Nahula while Minister of Transport of Malaysia, Dr. Wee Ka Siong represented his country during the signing event. While speaking at the ceremony, Minister Nahula said that the agreement symbolizes strong bilateral ties between Maldives and Malaysia.

Malaysia is a country frequented and resided by many Maldivians for numerous purposes such as higher education, work and for vacation even. By facilitating the drive of motor vehicles in the country, it will ease transportation for many Maldivians living in the country.
