Maldives Ports Limited Publishes Monthly Statistics Of August

Today, Maldives Port Limited published its monthly statistics for the month of August. The statistics revealed a higher clearance rate in most operations of the port.

The major perishable items cleared in the previous month include different varieties of fruits and vegetables along with the popular kitchen ingredient, eggs. The fruit market heavily constituted of watermelons, bananas and pineapples which all saw a higher clearance rate when compared to the month of July. No mangoes were cleared in the past month resulting in a 100% decline of the item.

Among vegetables, cabbages, onions, potatoes and tomatoes made the list, with onions being the most cleared item of the month at 41,455. The next in line was potatoes with 21005 and tomato and cabbage were tied at almost the same level. Another perishable food that had a 30% increment when compared to July was eggs, with 57,627 eggs being cleared in August.

A total of 5228 containers and 7512 teus were cleared in the preceding month out of which 2944 were 20ft containers and the rest were 40ft containers. The daily clearance rate also increased by 28% in August for both containers and teus. When it comes to vessel arrivals, 17 conventional vessels graced our ports while 10 container vessels arrived as well.
