The Newly Appointed High Commissioner of Ghana Presents His Credentials To President Solih

Yesterday, the newly appointed High Commissioner of the Republic of Ghana to the Maldives, His Excellency Kwaku Asomah-Cheremah presented his credentials to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. The credentials were presented at a ceremony held at the President’s office.

During the meeting, the President welcomed the High Commissioner to the Maldives and felicitated him on his appointment. In this regard, the President spoke about enhancing the diplomatic relations between the countries via increased bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

While speaking at the meeting, the High Commissioner of Ghana gave his gratitude to the President for accepting his credentials. He expressed his hope of improving mutually beneficial collaboration between the two nations, especially in the field of tourism and agriculture. He remarked that Ghana has the potential to learn much from the Maldives’ tourism industry and put forward the suggestion for facilitating investment opportunities from Maldivian enterprises in Ghana in an effort to assist their tourism sector.

On this topic, the President noted that this year Maldives is commemorating its Golden Jubilee year of tourism and ascertained the High Commissioner of extending his support to the development of Ghana’s tourism. He further stated that his administration emphasizes on marketing sustainable tourism practices in Maldives.

In his concluding remarks, the President wished for the two countries to increase people-to-people contact as an important step towards strengthening bilateral ties as well as trade and investment. They also agreed to collaborate more on the international floor in areas of mutual interest. The Maldives established diplomatic relations with the Republic of Ghana on 10th August 1989.

Two more High Commissioners presented their credentials to the President yesterday as well.
