RTL Mini Bus Services To Commence This Coming Monday

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) announced that RTL mini bus services in the capital city Male’ will commence this coming Monday. The first two weeks of service will be conducted as test drives with no bus fees charged from passengers. The designated fee for mini bus services is MVR 7.

A total of 18 buses are allocated for the mini bus service in Male’, out of which 8 buses are equipped with spaces for wheelchairs making the bus services accessible as well. With special attention given to areas of high public interest, the buses will travel along three main routes. Namely the Sosun Route, Ameenee Route and Orchid Route. To accommodate for the routes, parking has been restricted in Majeedhee Magu and parking arrangements are being revised in Ameenee and Orchid Magu as well.

In the Sosun Route, 8 stops will ease passenger transport while the Ameenee and Orchid Routes will feature a total of 18 stops. Moreover, the bus routes will be connecting major neighbourhoods in the capital from Henveiru to Maafannu, creating an integrated transport network within the cosmopolitan city.

As usual, bus services will be free for school children, children below 3 years of age and elderly above 65 years. Furthermore, it will also be free of charge for people with disabilities carrying a card issued by National Social Protection Agency (NSPA).

The RTL mini bus services each have a capacity of 16 passengers with an additional 10 passenger-standing space. Every day the bus services will begin at 5:45am and end in 12:15am with stops close by within 10 minutes. To ease bus services further MTCC has also introduced QR Ticketing, with the ticket valid for a duration of 7 days.
