BML To Develop An Oncology Ward In IGMH As Part Of 40th Anniversary Events

Yesterday, Bank of Maldives signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) to develop and establish an Oncology ward at the hospital. The MoU was signed on behalf of BML by In-charge and Acting MD, Aishath Noordeen while CEO of IGMH, Ibrahim Saleem signed as a representative of the hospital at a small ceremony held at the bank.

The initiative is conducted as part of BML’s high impact monthly community-based activities to commemorate the bank’s 40th anniversary this November. A generous assistance of MVR 3.5 million will be provided by BML to finance this project.

On the occasion of the event, Acting MD of BML, Aishath Noordeen stated that they are elated to facilitate support in a critical area of the health sector. She further added that through the establishment of the ward, they hope cancer patients can gain access to safe quality oncology services.

The CEO of IGMH, Ibrahim Saleem remarked that he is very grateful for the generous donation extended by BML towards establishing a ward for cancer patients. In this regard he stated that it will pave way for improved treatments for patients and help accomplish the hospital’s goal of making cancer treatment more accessible to all.

Fearing a series of 12 monthly initiatives, the community-based activities began in November 2021. BML has so far extended support to the National Museum and renovated the HPSN and have introduced many grants such as Housing Grands, BML Startup Grand and even Small Grants. In addition to this, the bank has opened a Scholarship Fund and refurbished the National Library as part of the activities as well.
