Yesterday, Bank of Maldives (BML) announced that their American Express Debit Cards will now be accepted anywhere in the world, brining clients great convenience. The American Express Debit Cards were initially introduced for domestic use only, but now can be linked to USD accounts for international purchases online and overseas as well. The card offers up to USD 3000 as a daily default limit so splurge away on your favourite trips!
While speaking about this exciting announcement BML’s In-Charge and Acting MD, Aishath Noordeen said “As part of our long-standing partnership with American Express, we are pleased to extend our existing debit card products by providing acceptance at all American Express merchants worldwide. Today’s announcement underscores Bank of Maldives’ leadership in card issuance in the country as we continue to offer great benefits to our growing customer base.”
On this occasion, Vice President of Global Network Services, India & South Asia American Express, Divya Jain remarked that Bank of Maldives have always been a valued partner of American Express in South Asia. She further added that introduction of American Express Debit card in international usage is a natural extension of their efforts to facilitate flexibility in card usage globally with the aim of catering to customer lifestyle and spend behavior.
American Express Debit Card holders can now request to switch their USD account as the primary account by visiting the online portal or via mobile banking. New customers applying for a card can also submit applications through the online portal as well.
