BML Community Fund Paves Way For Solar-Powered Streetlights In Sh.Maaungudhoo

Through financial assistance received from the BML Community Fund, solar powered streetlights have been successfully installed in the island of Sh. Maaungudhoo. The project was undertaken by a local NGO in the island called Maaungudhoo Youth Linkage. The project saw the installation of 25 streetlights at prominent roads and locations of the island.

While speaking about this project, a representative from the NGO, Mr. Mohamed Zahir said that before this project was completed, there were no streetlights available in those areas and due to this, posed many difficulties to the people. He further added that through this project, the NGO hopes to make the island a safe space for everyone while contributing to the environment through switching to renewable sources of energy.

The BML Community Fund is a community based program that strives to empower NGOS
across the country to contribute to their societies in the form of sustainable projects. The Community Fund provides finance for initiatives focusing on community development, sports, environment, and education. Through the Community Fund, BML has supported 70 different projects all over the country and strives to extend the assistance to 10 more proposals before the end of this year.
