Russian Ambassador Pays President Solih A Farewell Visit

Today, The Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Maldives, His Excellency Yury B. Materiy paid a farewell visit to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. The meeting took place at the President’s Office in Male’.

During the meeting, the President acknowledged the Russian Ambassador for his hard work and commitment in strengthening the bilateral ties between the Maldives and Russia. In this regard, he also gave his thanks to the Russian government for their continual support and assistance to the Maldives in bilateral and global forums.

In the meeting, President Solih and the Russian Ambassador discussed the dynamics of the bilateral relations, in terms of growing partnerships especially evident in the tourism sector. Furthermore, they talked about the Visa Waiver Agreement signed between the countries that paved way for enhanced people-to-people ties and tourism collaborations. On this subject, President Solih and the Ambassador spoke about further expanding trade and business collaboration between the two nations.

The visit was concluded with both parties expressing confidence in building more fruitful relations between Maldives and Russia in the coming years.
