TTH Completes Successful ACL Surgery of A Top Footballer In The Maldives

Fasir or more commonly called Sentey by football fans completed the ACL Reconstruction surgery under the expert supervision of TTH’s acclaimed Orthopedic Consultant, Dr. Hussain Faisal.

While speaking about ACL injuries he stated it is a frequent case to injure the ligament inside the knee joint by twisting it. He explained that when players fall down with an uncontrollable and twisting manner, they incur this injury. In this regard Dr. Faisal said that at the time of contact there would be a popping sound accompanied by searing pain and swelling of the knee joint that lasts for 1-2 weeks. He added that ACL injuries that are not treated can results in pain and instability of the joint.

“Ali Fasir also had a similar type of injury. His ACL was partially torn with some intact fibers of the ligament. To support the weakened ligament, a tendon graft was used to reinforce the knee joint. This treatment is required for him to be a professional football player. He will have to go through rehabilitation protocols before resuming play. I wish him a fast recovery and expect him to resume his previous level of activity on the field of the national football team” shared Dr. Faisal.

Mr. Fasir commented that he found out about the injury post a MRI scan done at the hospital and per the recommendation of a colleague applied to Dr. Faisal. The national team footballer further remarked that he initially thought of going abroad to do the surgery but it was very gratifying and convenient to know the surgery can be done in Maldives instead.
