Ooredoo Hosts Ministerial Delegation from Maldives to Discuss Potential Partnerships With Qatar

On Monday, a delegation of Ministers from the Maldives visited Qatar by honouring an invitation from the Chairperson of Ooredoo Maldives, Ms. Fatima Al Kuwari. The visit saw meetings with prominent figures of Qatari Ministries and institutions in Doha.

The meetings were facilitated by Ooredoo in an effort to exchange dialogues between the countries with regard to collaborations, paving way for digital-led progress in the Maldives. Through this partnership, Ooredoo strives to expedite digital transformation in all of its operating markets, including Maldives. In doing so, they wish to enhance the lives of Maldivians across all areas.

The delegation of Ministers who attended to the visit include Minister of Environment, Climate Change & Technology, Honourable Aminath Shauna, Minister of Education, Dr. Aishath Ali and Minister of Arts & Culture, Honourable Yumna Maumoon. They were joined by State Ministers from their respective Ministries.

The visiting delegation met with Qatari Ministers such as Minister of Education, H.E Buthaina bint Ali Al-Nuaimi, Minister of Environment & Climate Change, Sheikh Dr. Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali Al Thani, Minister of Communications & Information Technology, H.E Mohamed bin Ali Al Mannai and Minister of Culture, Arts & Heritage, Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Hamad.

The Ministers and other representatives also paid a visit to the top management of the Ooredoo group and was joined by Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Ooredoo Maldives, Khalid Al Hamadi and the Chief Commercial Officer of Ooredoo Maldives, Husssain Niyaz.

During their visit, the ministerial delegation also toured key institutions in Qatar including the Qatar Foundation. While touring the Qatar National Library, both parties discussed ways to collaborate and upscale the Maldives National Library. In addition, this, the team visited the Qatar National Museum and Katara Cultural Village and stopped by various art galleries, workshops, exhibition areas, performance arenas and many other cultural places in these museums.

Ooredoo hopes that by facilitating these meetings, the countries were able to exchange innovative ideas and develop fruitful partnerships that will benefit the people of Maldives and Qatar in the long run.

Since its inception in 2005, Ooredoo Maldives have been enriching the digital lives of Maldivians and have made revolutionary impacts on the digital world. They were the first telecommunication operator to launch 4G network services across the country and the first to upscale its transmission network to full IP. Furthermore, they were the first Ooredoo Company to receive the 5G spectrum license in 2018, resulting in the introduction of 5G AirFibre and 5G Broadband services in the Maldives-a milestone brought to the telecommunication world.
