Vice President Officially Opened the Arts & Crafts Exhibition in Kulhudhuffushi City

On Saturday, Vice President of the Maldives, His Excellency Faisal Naseem inaugurated the “Sagafee Masakkaiy Dhiruvun” arts & crafts exhibition in Kulhudhuffushi City. The exhibition was conducted as part of the activities arranged to commemorate this year’s International Youth Day which falls on August 12th. The Vice President even attended the official ceremony that was held to mark the day.

After the opening event, the Vice President toured the exhibition and asked about the various art pieces and craftsmanship that was exhibited at the place. The exhibition featured multiple handicraft works from intricate embroidery and jewellery to detailed wood carvings and meticulous works of blacksmiths.  

Through engaging the youth, the exhibition aspires to encourage young people to learn the age-old traditions of craftsmanship as well as the rich history behind such a remarkable employment. In addition to this, the exhibition facilitates the opportunity to marvel at the skills of artisans who have presented their works at the event.

The Vice President was on an official visit to the Kulhudhuffushi City and Nolhivaram Island in Haa Dhaalu Atoll, with a series of events lined up during his visit. This included attending the official function to celebrate International Youth Day and inaugurating the exhibition. Moreover, he met with council members of both islands and visited a number of government institutions
