Bank of Maldives Plc (BML) launched one of their most ambitious nationwide campaign; ‘Aharenge Bank’ for the purpose of strengthening their connection with the public which is seen as an important component of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Since its launch, the Bank has extended funding to vulnerable parts of the community consistently, as part of the campaign. One of such initiatives has been the donation of motorized wheelchairs for persons with mobility impairments across all corners of the nation which commenced in the year 2017.
In this regard, the Bank was pleased to announced that today, they have made an additional donation of 65 motorized wheelchairs. With this donation, the Bank has succeeded in supporting over 140 people with mobility impairments across the country. This was their goal which was set at the start of this year. However, it is not where they stop. BML aspires to continue making the donations until delivery is made to every person with a mobility impairment in the country who is able to independently operate a wheelchair.
The donation by the Bank has indeed enhanced the quality of the lives of persons living with physical disabilities in Maldives.
The Bank’s CEO and Managing Director, Mr. Tim Sawyer, thanked all the staff who made the delivery possible amidst COVID-19 pandemic.
