The “Taza Veshi” campaign comprises of many green initiatives including the shift from plastic products to non-plastic products and strives to instill a re-use culture in the Maldives. The campaign plans to conduct awareness programs across the country to educate the public about the importance of environmental and shore protection. Furthermore, the campaign aims to carry out beach clean drives to pave way for plastic-free beaches.
While speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Tourism, Dr. Abdullah Mausoom remarked that the campaign is a great step towards mitigating threats to the environment by moving away from plastic. He complemented the IBM company for using sustainable materials in designing the new products.
Each batch of Taza undergoes multiple treatments such as ozone and UV and is screened under strict laboratory settings before being introduced into the market. The three-stage micron filtration ensures the water is free from all bacteria and mineral dosing is done to incorporate the water with necessary minerals that are essential for the body.
Founded in 2002 as a subsidiary company to Male’ Water & Sewerage Company (MWSC), Island Beverages Maldives is the first to introduce mineralized bottled water in the country. Through its 20 years of service IBM has expanded and now has two production facilities in the Maldives with the joined capacity of manufacturing four different types of bottles.
