MWSC Signs With MIT To Further Build And Improve Their Human Resources

On Sunday, Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Maldives Institute of Technology (MIT). The 5-year MoU was signed to provide industrial experiences to MWSC employers in different technical areas.

This initiative was launched in accordance to the company’s efforts to build better human resources which will pave way for improved quality of services provided by MWSC. As part of the agreement, MWSC employers will partake in different courses conducted by MIT and get training in various fields.

The agreement was signed on behalf of MWSC by the Managing Director, Hassan Shah. From the MIT side, the MoU was signed by Director of Programmes, Adam Khaleel. In adhering to this agreement, short courses will be conducted in necessary areas for the staff of MWSC. The short courses are structured in a standard that will be approved by the Maldives Qualification Authority (MQA).

Under this agreement, MWSC will facilitate technical assistance to design the courses of MIT. Moreover, the agreement states that MWSC will provide opportunities for students studying  at MIT to gain on-hands experience by utilizing the facilities at MWSC.

MWSC aims to build diligent employees that are capable of delivering high quality services to the people. The company firmly believes that a skilled workforce in the industry is mandatory to achieve the vision of extending MWSC’s water and sewerage services to all islands of the Maldives in a quality manner.

Established in 1995 as Male’ Water and Sewerage Company, it was the first organization in Maldives to institute a water production and wastewater management system. Through it years of service, MWSC has expanded and grown and now provides its services to roughly 50% of the Maldives. It is currently a multi-disciplinary engineering and manufacturing company which has many products to its name and provides engineering solutions for many integrated utilities.
