Free Use of the Minibus Service is Fixed By MTCC to Students, Elderly, and Persons with Disabilities

Schoolchildren, the elderly, and Persons with disabilities will all be able to use the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) minibus service without paying, according to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
 
On July 16, MTCC shipped 36 minibuses to the Maldives in order to launch bus services throughout the atolls and the Greater Male' Region. Transfer of 24 minibuses to Addu City, Fuvahmulah City, and Laamu Atoll is currently underway. Between Feydhoo and Hithadhoo in Addu, MTCC will launch bus services with eight minibuses on four routes, and in Hulhumeedhoo, services will launch with four minibuses on four routes.
 
Additionally, three routes will be established in Fuvahmulah using five minibuses, four routes between Gan and Fonadhoo in Laamu Atoll using five minibuses, and one route between Isdhoo and Kalaidhoo using two minibuses.
 
CEO of MTCC, Mr Adam Azim highlighted speaking about the course that the atolls have made preparations to start the services as quickly as possible, and that MTCC has reserved the parking spaces and trained the staff members for the service. In addition, he stated that, like the RTL ferry service, schoolchildren, the elderly, and individuals with special needs will not be charged for the minibus services.
 
A scope of 20 people can fit in each minibus, which runs on diesel fuel along with special designs for accessibility for wheelchair users are also implemented in the minibuses. The larger RTL service, which aims to connect transport services throughout the Maldives, includes the minibus services. According to MTCC, five additional vehicles will be brought this month to be used as part of the service, making the minibus services affordable and practical for the general public.
